26 Nations Send Over 3800 Tons of Aid to Myanmar Earthquake Victims

Myanmar's State Administration Council Vice-Chairman, Vice-Senior General Soe Win, announced that as of April 24th, donations for earthquake relief, both domestic and international, have exceeded 115 billion Myanmar Kyats and over 2 million US dollars.


Speaking at a National Natural Disaster Management Committee meeting on April 25th, Vice-Senior General Soe Win revealed the breakdown of international monetary aid received by April 24th: over 115.876 billion Myanmar Kyats, more than 2.437 million US dollars, 5 million South Korean Won, 15 million Indian Rupees, 2 million Thai Baht, and 3,150 Singapore Dollars. These funds have been deposited into the National Natural Disaster Management Committee's accounts for disaster relief and reconstruction efforts.

Furthermore, the Myanmar State Administration Council issued a statement indicating that 26 countries have donated a total of 3,833.84 tons of relief supplies. This includes 2,635.92 tons of essential living items and 1,197.12 tons of rescue equipment.


Following the major earthquake in Mandalay, the international community dispatched rescue teams to assist with disaster relief. To date, rescue personnel from 26 countries have arrived, deploying 147 aircraft, 7 ships, and 23 vehicles, with a total of 2,095 emergency responders.


Similarly, international medical teams have established temporary medical clinics in Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, and Naypyidaw, providing emergency treatment and medical care services. As of today, 337 medical personnel from 6 countries are working in groups, collaborating with medical staff from Myanmar's Ministry of Health to provide medical assistance. The aforementioned statements were made by the Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council.

Additionally, the Myanmar National Natural Disaster Management Fund has allocated 60 billion Myanmar Kyats for post-earthquake reconstruction in Mandalay Region. Aid funds of 50 billion Myanmar Kyats have been provided to Sagaing Region, 10 billion Myanmar Kyats to the Naypyidaw Union Territory, and 5 billion Myanmar Kyats to Shan State.


The powerful earthquake on March 28th affected 10 states and regions, including Naypyidaw, impacting over 100,000 households and more than 600,000 people.

According to preliminary statistics from the National Natural Disaster Management Committee as of April 24th, a total of 63,854 residential houses, 6,752 schools, 5,474 Buddhist monasteries and nunneries, 5,342 pagodas, and 613 other religious buildings were damaged.


Furthermore, 576 hospitals and clinics, 56 sections of railway, 271 roads, 198 sections of highways, 586 dams, 172 bridges, and 353 transformers were also damaged.
